Hiroshi Fujiwara Previews a New Fragment Nike Zoom Fly 3 With a Checkerboard Swoosh

Fragment and Nike have something new cooking this year. The last time the two paired up, they released a handful of tennis sneakers. Now, several years later, Hiroshi Fujiwara is showing off his latest creation, the Fragment x Nike Zoom Fly 3.

Fragment and Nike’s legendary partnership first skyrocketed to sneaker fame with the Air Jordan 1. It was a relatively simple project, taking the fan-favorite “Black Toe” look and flipping it with a royal blue twist in the nicest leather Nike has to offer, and a Fragment Design logo stamped onto the outer heels. Sneakerheads went nuts. These days, the shoe sells for around $3,000. However, there are more Fragment x Nike projects on the way for those of you with interested in something sleeker. This week, Fragment founder and lead designer Hiroshi Fujiwara shared a first look at an upcoming Nike Zoom Fly 3 of his own design.

The Fragment Design x Nike Zoom Fly 3 begins with a checkerboard patterned upper, which uses changes in the material to create the look, as well as assumably giving the surface an interesting texture. The Zoom Fly 3’s oversized Swoosh comes with a checkerboard pattern as well, this time in black & white, that warps with the shape of the brand’s indistinguishable logo. Finally, Fragment branding can be seen underneath the laces alongside the classic Nike running logo.

Hiroshi Fujiwara’s latest Fragment x Nike project has not yet been announced for release, though given this teaser, we can expect them to drop sometime before the end of the year. Expect an elevated retail price as well as a release from high-profile Nike accounts. Check out Fujiwara’s first look below, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more information regarding the release.
